2023 Edition
The first edition of the Sibillini-Europa Summer School took place in Amandola (FM), in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains National Park, from August 31 to September 3, 2023.
The school is promoted by the Sibillini Europa Association, with the institutional patronage of the European Parliament, the Representation of the European Commission in Italy, and the Municipality of Amandola. The initiative was created with the support and in partnership with the Department of Law, the BLEUSE Jean Monnet Chair, and the European Documentation Centre of the University of Macerata; with LDIS – Law, Digital Innovation and Sustainability and LabGov – Laboratory for the Governance of the City as a Commons at LUISS Guido Carli; with the Giacomo Leopardi School of Advanced Studies of the University of Macerata; and with the ITS Foundation of Fermo.
The Sibillini-Europa Summer School has three main objectives:
- To provide a high-level educational and academic-professional guidance opportunity for young students interested in the challenges and opportunities of European integration
- To create a space for debate among experts, young people, and the local community on current issues concerning the European Union as a shared political space
- To promote awareness and appreciation of the territory of Amandola and the Sibillini Mountains National Park, known for their beauty but also for their seismic and socio-economic vulnerability
The project will host many students who will vote for the first time in the European Elections of June 6–9, 2024.
During the four days of the first edition of the Sibillini-Europa Summer School, lectures, networking dinners, recreational activities, open debates on current topics, and public events will alternate, with the participation of journalists and three distinguished Members of the European Parliament.
The school will also allow participants to interact closely with academic figures and professionals in the field, who will provide information and guidance on pursuing university specialization paths and starting professional careers in institutions or private entities operating in the field of European Union law or policy.
The unique setting of the Sibillini Mountains National Park, along with the organization of lectures and debates in the historic center of Amandola, will also offer the opportunity to discover a territory rich in cultural initiatives and natural beauty. These will be enhanced through activities organized for every participant in the school, whether faculty or students.
The Summer School will also include a professional training initiative focused on European project design, covering the conception, drafting, and submission of European projects.

Three Members of the European Parliament led a stimulating debate for both students and the local community, offering a current and relevant perspective on the challenges discussed in Brussels. Students actively engaged in the discussion, addressing topics such as migration, conflicts, youth unemployment, and electoral participation.
Students also had the opportunity to explore the role of communication and European narratives through the aperitif and debate titled “European Union: Information and Disinformation.”
Career Coffee
The orientation activity allowed young students to sit down with experts and professionals from various fields (diplomacy and institutions, law firms, academia and research, lobbying and advocacy, private sector). Here, students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the academic and professional paths required to pursue specific careers, including at the European level.
Excursions and outdoor lessons
The e-bike trip and the short excursion through breathtaking landscapes—where the effort was richly rewarded by the beauty of the Sibillini Mountains and the stories they tell—together with the outdoor lesson immersed in nature, provided a fitting conclusion to this first unforgettable edition.

2024 Edition
The second edition of the Sibillini-Europa Summer School took place in Amandola (FM) and Comunanza (AP), in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains National Park, from August 28 to September 1, 2024, thus lasting one day longer than the first edition and expanding to neighboring municipalities within the Sibillini area.
The school is promoted by the Sibillini Europa Association, with the institutional patronage of the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Municipality of Amandola. The initiative was also made possible thanks to the support and partnership with the Department of Law, the BLEUSE Jean Monnet Chair, and the European Documentation Centre of the University of Macerata; with LDIS – Law, Digital Innovation and Sustainability and LabGov – Laboratory for the Governance of the City as a Commons at LUISS Guido Carli; with the Giacomo Leopardi School of Advanced Studies of the University of Macerata; with the ITS Foundation and the ITS Smart Academy of Fermo; with the University of Teramo and the Marche Polytechnic University; and with the Maire Foundation.
The project hosted 41 students from across Italy and abroad, including Ukraine, Vietnam, and the United States.
During the days of the Sibillini-Europa Summer School, lectures, networking dinners, recreational activities, open debates on current issues, and public events alternated, featuring the participation of journalists, professors specializing in American politics (in view of the upcoming elections), and three distinguished Members of the European Parliament.
The school also allowed participants to engage closely with academic figures and professionals in the field, who provided information and guidance on pursuing university specialization paths and starting professional careers in institutions or private entities operating in the field of European Union law or policy.
The unique setting of the Sibillini Mountains National Park, along with lectures and debates held in the historic centers of Amandola and Comunanza, also offered the opportunity to discover a territory rich in cultural initiatives and natural beauty, enhanced by activities organized for every participant, whether faculty or students.
The Summer School also included a professional training initiative focused on European project design, covering the conception, drafting, and submission of EU-funded projects.
New features of this edition included personalized CV consulting sessions, a Simulation Game in which students took part in a debate in the role of Members of the European Parliament, and a lecture delivered by two Young European Ambassadors (YEAs).
